Larrie Olson, 83, of Eau Claire, went home to meet his Lord and Savior on Friday, October 24, 2014, following complications from a long-term illness. Larrie was born on September 7, 1931, in Chimney Rock, WI, to William and Florence (Helgeson) Olson. On September 30, 1955, Larrie married Beverly Johnson at First Lutheran Church in Eau Claire. He drove bus while attending the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, and later drove bus for the City of Eau Claire prior to beginning his teaching career. He taught Chemistry in Whitehall and Tomah High Schools and later taught Chemistry and Photography at Eau Claire Memorial and North High School for 31 years. Larrie enjoyed singing in the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Choir while he was a student. He loved playing cards with his family, was an avid train hobbyist and cherished his two puppies, Mya and Tucker. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Bev; four children, Ronda (Marc) Putzy of River Falls, David (Colleen) Olson of Oshkosh, Cindy (Dale Johnson) Buckli of Eau Claire and Chuck (Kim) Olson of Eau Claire; nine grandchildren, Tricia, Tara (Dane), Brian, Sarah, Emily (Jaime), Jake (Caitlin), Nate, Jennifer (Sergio) and Christy; and three great-grandchildren, Adriana, Aiden and Aida; sister-in-law, Mary Howard; and two brothers-in-law, Tom (Sandy) Johnson and Lyle Baker; and also by several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Larrie will be sadly missed by his family and all who knew him. Larrie was preceded in death by his parents; mother and father-in-law, Jake and Hazel Johnson; brothers-in-law, Dick and Jerry Johnson; and sister-in-law, Millie Baker. In lieu of flowers, please direct memorials to the Elevator-Lift Fund at Faith Lutheran Mission Church, where Larrie was a member, 1704 Hogeboom Ave. Eau Claire, WI 54701. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, October 30, 2014, at Lutheran Church of St. Matthew, 1915 Hogeboom Ave., in Eau Claire, with Pastor Nick Henseler officiating. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, October 29, 2014, at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home, 814 First Ave., in Eau Claire and again one hour prior to the service on Thursday at the Church. Burial will be in Lutheran Church Cemetery.
