Larry W. Dahl, 73, formerly of Chippewa Falls, WI, passed away Sunday, January 6th, 2013, in The Villages, FL. Larry was born on December 13, 1939, to Lester and Stella (Knutson) Dahl in Galesville, WI. He graduated from Logan High School. He married Lorna Olson in April, 1961. They had three children together and later divorced. He married Susan Rudahl in 1987. Larry started his career at Trane Co. in La Crosse, WI, and moved to Minneapolis, in 1961, to work for Control Data Corp. While working for Control Data he made moves to Coon Rapids, MN, and again to Spring Grove, MN. In 1971, he moved his family to Eau Claire and began working for Memorex Corp. In 1978, he started at Cray Research Inc., in Chippewa Falls, where he worked for 17 years, retiring in 1995. He loved to talk about his "Cray Days" and reminisce about all the great people he met during his time there. Not a big fan of WI winters, Larry and his wife Sue moved to The Villages, FL in 1998, where they made many wonderful friends. He enjoyed traveling with Sue, playing golf and card games, and spending time with family and friends. He was an avid fan of the Green Bay Packers and the Chicago Cubs (they'll win the big one someday). He is survived by his beloved wife of 25 years, Susan; his children, Lori Pizzella of St. Paul, MN, Lisa (Rick) Behlke of Eau Claire, WI, and Larry Dahl Jr. of Chippewa Falls, WI; a brother, Vern (Marie) Dahl of Onalaska, WI; 8 grandchildren, Jessica Pizzella, Dustin Behlke, Jennifer Pizzella, Paige Dahl, Jimmy Millette, Justin Millette, Zach Dahl & Joey Millette; and a great-granddaughter, Hannah Lamb. He is also survived by a special niece, Sarah (Mike) Chinander (whom he considered another daughter) and their son, Alex of Eau Claire, WI; numerous brothers and sisters-in-law; nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his parents-in-law, Paul and Anne Rudahl. Larry will be sadly missed but his spirit lives on in everyone that had the pleasure of knowing him. His favorite saying was "It's nice to be important - but it's more important to be nice". A celebration of Larry's life will be held on Friday, January 18, 2013, from 5:30 - 8:00 p.m. at Lenmark Gomsrud Linn Funeral Home WEST CHAPEL, 1405 N. Clairemont Ave., Eau Claire.
