Larry D. Jones, 65, of Eau Claire, died Saturday, July 7, 2012, at the VA Medical Center in Minneapolis, MN. He was born in Eau Claire on August 23, 1946, a son of Robert and Esther (Garlie) Jones. Larry attended Eau Claire Memorial High School and graduated with the class of 1964. Larry entered the U.S. Army on September 20, 1966, and served in Vietnam during the Vietnam Era. He was honorable discharged on September 19, 1972. Larry married Pamela Meservey on March 16, 1968, in Eau Claire. They had two sons together, Corey and Wylie. Larry worked 40 years as a machine operator for Cascade Tissue Paper Mill in Eau Claire, retiring as a machine operator in 2008. He was a member of American Legion Post #53 in Eau Claire. Larry is survived by his two sons, Corey Jones of Austin, TX and Wylie Jones of Eau Claire and their mother, Pamela Thompson of Chetek; a granddaughter, Kelsey Jones of Eau Claire; two brothers, Roger (Jane) of Appleton, WI, and Jeffrey of Eau Claire; sister-in-law, Karen Jones of Combined Locks, WI; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Robert and Kenneth Jones; three sisters, Katherine Miller, Donna Kuehn and Barbara Jones; and a sister-in-law, Jennifer Jones. Memorial services will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, July 12, 2012, at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home, 814 First Ave., with Rev. David J. Irgens officiating. Burial will be at Forest Hill Cemetery in Eau Claire where American Legion Post #53 will conduct military graveside honors. Visitation will from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 11, 2012, and one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
