Obituary

LAURA W. SOLBERG, 89, formerly of 1427 Uecke Ave., Eau Claire, died Saturday, May 27, 2000 at Dove Healthcare Nursing and Rehabilitation. She was born on August 7, 1910 to Henry and Helena (Westphal) Strehlau in Elk Mound, Wisconsin, where she grew up and attended school. Laura married Oscar C. Solberg on April 30, 1932 in Elk Mound. She was a seamstress at Duetsch Fur's in Eau Claire for many years and enjoyed using her expertise to sew, knit, crochet and make quilts for family and friends. She loved to travel and camp, and take trips up to Duluth for her favorite smoked fish. \r\nLaura was a member of Peace Lutheran Church.\r\nSurvivors include a son, Bruce D. Solberg of Eau Claire; daughter, Donna (James) Anderson of Elk Mound; two granddaughters, Kim M. Anderson of Elk Mound and Brandy (Jeff) Buss of Chippewa Falls; two great grandchildren, Bayleigh K Buss and Jake Robert Buss of Chippewa Falls; two sisters, Jeanette Anderson of Elk Mound and Charlotte (Louis) Iverson of Eau Claire; two sisters-in-law, Irene Maves of Colfax and Alvina Orr of Mt. Morris, IL; and many nieces nephews, and cousins.\r\nShe was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Oscar in 1979; a son, Dedrick; sister, Bernice Schumacher; and a brother, Robert Strehlau.\r\nFuneral Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Peace Lutheran Church with Pastor Mark Schulz officiating. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home and an hour prior to services Wednesday at the church. \r\nFamily requests memorials be directed to Peace Lutheran Church.\r\n
