Obituary

LaVerne D. Froseth, 82, of Chippewa Falls, died Sunday, January 25, 2009, at Chippewa Manor. He was born in Eau Claire on October 2, 1926, the son of Amos and Hannah (Gunderson) Froseth.\r\nLaVerne married Ione B. Root on July 28, 1950 in Eau Claire.\r\nHe was a combat veteran of the Korean Conflict, part of the Occupation Force of Japan, and was awarded the Korean Service Medal with Bronze Star. LaVerne was honorably discharged on July 3, 1952. \r\nHe worked at Uniroyal Tire Company for 35 years until his retirement in 1988.\r\nHe was a member of Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd since 1957. \r\nLaVerne enjoyed playing "500", gardening,fishing, camping and playing softball with his children and grandchildren. \r\nLaVerne is survived by his wife, Ione; two sons, Gary (Nan) of Wausau and Michael of Stoughton; two daughters, Sue (Jeffrey) Wilson of Stoughton and Sally (Zachary) Guerrero of Cudahy; eleven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two sisters, Arlene Anderson and Carol (Jim) Johnson both of Eau Claire; and nieces and nephews.\r\nHe was preceded in death by his parents; and infant son, Dale Howard Froseth.\r\nFuneral services will be held 11 a.m. on Friday, January 30, 2009, at Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd with the Rev. Donald Wisner officiating. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery, Eau Claire where American Legion Post #53 will conduct military graveside honors. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home and one hour to services Friday at the church. \r\n
