Larry worked for Uniroyal Tire Company for thirty-nine years, retiring in 1984 as Superintendent of the Giant Off The Road / Radial Truck Tire Department.\r\nLarry greatly enjoyed hunting and fishing trips he took regularly with his friends and family as well as the many building projects he undertook - building homes, porches, decks, garages, barns or basements.\r\nHis role as a father expanded outside his immediate family to fill that roll for his nephews, niece, and son-in-law who had lost their fathers earlier.\r\nLarry dearly loved to spend time with his family and found great enjoyment in his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who fondly referred to him as "Papa".\r\nWe will all miss him dearly. \r\nSurvivors include his wife, Bets; a son, Robert (Connie) Gynnild of Eau Claire; daughter, Diane (John) Sleizer of Rosemount, MN; four grandchildren, Gregory (Robin) Gynnild of Eau Claire, Jennifer (Tom) Paquette of Hudson, Stephanie Sleizer of Eau Claire, and Sara (Josh) Hansen, Wausau; five great-grandchildren; a brother, Orville (Dolly) Gynnild of Eau Claire; a sister, Gladys (Harold) Erickson of Eau Claire; and many nieces and nephews.\r\nHe was preceded in death by his parents.\r\nFuneral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 20, 2001 at Trinity Lutheran Church with Pastor Mary L. Jorgensen officiating. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home and an hour prior to services Tuesday at the church.\r\nFamily suggests memorials be directed to the Neuro-Science Trauma Unit at Luther Hospital.
