Lawrence "Snuffy" Knudtson, 99, of Eau Claire died Sunday, May 27, 2007, at Sacred Heart Hospital. He was born in Eleva, town of Chimney Rock on May 26, 1908, the son of Cornelius and Elena (Evenson) Knudtson.\r\nLawrence married Edna Gunderson on March 21, 1929 at First Lutheran Church in Eau Claire. He was employed at Northwestern Motor Company for forty six years as a welder.\r\nHe was a member of Pinehurst Lutheran Church, Fraternal Order of the Eagles Chippewa Valley Aerie #2213 and a former member of the Lake Hallie Sportsman Club.\r\nLawrence is survived by his wife, Edna; a son, Harold (Janice) Knudtson, and two daughters, LaDonna Mahder and Margie (Thomas) Knickerbocker, all of Eau Claire; a son-in-law, Harvey Julson of Eau Claire; a daughter-in - law, Jody Knudtson of Racine; one sister, Eleanor Lenz of John Day, OR; one sister-in-law, Marie Knudtson of Fall Creek; twenty two grandchildren, forty six great-grandchildren, and eight great-great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.\r\nHe was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Joseph, George and Oscar; one sister, Margaret; a son Raymond; a daughter, Shirley Julson; and a son-in-law, Robert Mahder.\r\nLawrence was an avid fisherman and hunter. He missed the 2007 opener of trout fishing season, the first one in eighty five years, and only one deer hunting season since 1927, hunting near Loretta, most of the time. He helped the DNR stock trout for fifteen years, some being in Lake Hallie. "Life began in the garden" was his motto, which he thoroughly enjoyed as a hobby.\r\nFuneral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 31, 2007, at Pinehurst Lutheran Church in Eau Claire with Pastor Mark Rogers officiating. Burial will be in Prairie View Cemetery, in Hallie. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home and one hour prior to services at the church on Thursday.\r\n
