Lawrence "Larry" G. Hovde, 69, of Eau Claire died Wednesday, February 25, 2004 at his home. He was born in Eau Claire on July 26, 1934, the son of Lawrence "Ted" and Violet (Smith) Hovde. \r\nHe attended Eau Claire Senior High School and enlisted in the U.S. Marines on August 6, 1952, serving until his honorable discharge on August 15, 1955.\r\nLarry married Kathryn Bocek in Cancun, Mexico on February 14, 1990.\r\nLarry was an over the road truck driver until his retirement from Tandem Transport in 2002. He enjoyed the outdoors and his many trips on his Harley.\r\nLarry is survived by his wife, Kathy; four children, Linda (Ron) Jegen of South Milwaukee, Judy Wagner of Fairchild, Kathy (Chuck Spangler) Frome of Eau Claire and Kurt Hovde of Augusta; and their mother, Arlene Hovde of Eau Claire; ten grandchildren; one great granddaughter, Jordin Daniel Burgey; three step-children; his brother, Donald (Julie) Hovde of Aiken, SC; four sisters, Mina Lou (James) Witt of Oconomowoc, Vi (Bob) Weggen of Eau Claire, Alice Anibas of Mondovi and Dorothy (Jerry) Anibas of Eau Claire; many nieces and nephews; and his dog, Shelby.\r\nHe was preceded in death by his son, Mike; his parents; and two sons-in-law, Dale Wagner and John Frome; and a brother-in-law, Phillip Anibas Jr.\r\nFuneral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, March 1, 2004 at Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd with Pastor John E. Hosmann officiating. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery where V.F.W. Post #305 will conduct military graveside rites. Family and friends may call from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home and an hour prior to services Monday at the church.
