Obituary

Lawrence "Bud" A. Walker, 94, of Eau Claire died peacefully on Sunday, February 17, 2019 at Care Partners Assisted Living on Birch Street in Eau Claire, surrounded by his family and friends. Bud was born on June 25, 1924 in Eau Claire, to Karl and Eva (Radtke) Walker. He graduated from Eau Claire High School in 1942. Bud married Twila R. Rohlfs on October 17, 1948 at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church. He served in the Marine Corps from 1943 to 1946, in the Pacific Theater with the Bombay A Squadron 614. Bud was a lifelong member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, where he served on many boards, including Trustees, Building Committees, and Elders. He was employed by Walker Brothers, a lumber and building materials company, from 1942 to 1982, where he worked primarily as a draftsman for new homes in Putnam Heights. He finished his working career at Charlson's in Eau Claire. After his retirement in 1986, Bud and Twila spent many years together at their mobile home in Tucson, AZ during the winter and Camp Brigadoon in Cumberland, WI during the summers. Bud was an avid fisherman who enjoyed fishing with his wife, son and daughter-in-law, and three grandsons. At night, Bud enjoyed sitting around an evening campfire with family and friends. Above all, Bud loved God and family. He trusted in the Lord and poured out his love for his family. Bud was kind and compassionate and never lost that twinkle in his eye for his beloved wife, Twila. We will all miss his wisdom and wit. Bud is survived by his son, Mark (Cheryl); grandsons, Joe (Tammy), Ben (Katie) and Michael (Liz); great-grandchildren, Ava, Charlie, Addy, Sadie and Nora; sisters, Barb Feirn and Jane (Bryan) Schwark; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Twila; sister, Virginia Rohlfs; brothers and sisters-in-law, John (Viola) Qualheim and Peter (Doris) Rohlfs, Vernon Rohlfs; and nephew, Mike Rohlfs. Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, February 21, 2019 at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, 601 Fall Street, in Eau Claire, with Pastor Jeff Carlson officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service Thursday at the church. Burial will be held in Lakeview Cemetery in Eau Claire. Military honors will be conducted by American Legion Post 53 at the cemetery. Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral & Cremation Services is serving his family. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Our Redeemer Lutheran Church or an organization of the donor's choice. The family wishes to express their thanks and sincere gratitude to the wonderful staff of Care Partners and St. Joseph Hospice and Palliative Care for their excellent and compassionate care. The family also extends sincerest gratitude to Kathi Neevel, for her compassionate care for Bud and her professional advice and support to the family.
