Leatrice A. Mathison, 86, of Eau Claire, passed away peacefully at her residence on December 24, 2016, under the care of Mayo Clinic Home Health and Hospice. Leatrice was born to Robert and Martha (Kroeger) McCarthy on March 11,1930, in Eau Claire. She attended the Ninth Ward Elementary School and graduated from Eau Claire Senior High School in 1947. Upon graduation from high school at age 17, she took a job as secretary to the superintendent of Eau Claire schools for forty-five years. Later in 1992, she retired as Administrative Secretary in the same school district. On August 14, 1955, she married Don Mathison and they enjoyed 61 years together. Leatrice enjoyed activities and work in the outside area. Golfing and bowling with her husband with bridge at the Senior Center kept her busy. She is survived by her husband, Don and numerous cousins. Leatrice is preceded in death by her parents and an infant sister. Funeral Services will be at 11 a.m. on Thursday, December 29, 2016, at Grace Lutheran Church, 202 W. Grand Ave, Eau Claire, with Pastor Dean Simpson officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, December 28, 2016, at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home, 814 First Ave, Eau Claire, and one hour prior to services at the church. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Grace Lutheran Church, 202 W. Grand Ave, Eau Claire, WI 54703, or to the L.E. Phillips Senior Center, 1616 Bellinger St, Eau Claire, WI 54703.
