August 29, 1929 – January 8, 2024
Leatrice Joy (Stone) Solberg, 94, of Eau Claire, WI passed away on Monday, January 8, 2024 at Dove Healthcare West, surrounded by family.
She was born on August 29, 1929 in Woodman Township of Chippewa Co. to Oscar and Thelma (Hysen) Stone. She was baptized, confirmed and married at Rock Creek Lutheran Church.
She married Marvin R. Solberg on May 5, 1951 and together they were charter members of the Trinity Lutheran Church.
In 1965, Leatrice was the second employee of RCU, retiring in 1987 as senior V.P. In 1986, she was awarded ABWA Business Associate of the Year.
Marvin and Leatrice had a cabin at Willard Lake in Ontario, Canada. There they enjoyed fishing, riding the trails on the ATV and picking blueberries, wild raspberries and wild strawberries—which always called for baking pies, making jam and entertaining company.
They also enjoyed traveling the USA. Their other trips included Alaska, Hawaii, and Norway. Their favorite activity was "snow-birding" in Naples, FL.
After her retirement, Leatrice started volunteering at Luther Hospital from 1988-2004, along with Meals-on-Wheels, Community Table, Scandinavian Imports, as well as knitting prayer shawls and quilting at Trinity.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Oscar and Thelma Stone; her beloved husband, Marvin Solberg; her brothers, Milan Stone, and Lamoine Stone.
Leatrice is survived by her son, Thomas (Diane) Solberg; her granddaughters, Heather (John) Bradberg, and Jessica Solberg; along with her great-grandchildren Connor Bradberg and Jameson Solberg.
A funeral service for Leatrice will take place on Thursday, January 18, 2024 at 11:00AM at Trinity Lutheran Church, 1314 E. Lexington Blvd in Eau Claire. A visitation will start at 9:30AM prior to the service. Leatrice will be laid to rest at Rock Falls Cemetery following.
