Leo A. Stuttgen, 87, of Eau Claire died Saturday, January 5, 2008, at Oak Brook Health and Rehab in Thorp, WI. He was born on March 18, 1920, the son of Henry and Theresa (Boler) Stuttgen.\r\nHe attended school in Stanley.\r\nLeo married Lenore A. Krumenauer on August 14, 1945 at St. Bridgett's Catholic Church in the Town of Seymour.\r\nHe worked for Bartingale Plumbing&Heating for 37 years as a truck driver. Leo belonged to the Teamsters Union in Eau Claire, the Eau Claire Moose Lodge, Eau Claire Parks&Recreation, and the Good Sam RV Club.\r\nLeo was a dedicated charter member of St. James the Greater Catholic Parish. \r\nLeo will always be remembered as a jack of all trades. It seemed he was able to repair almost anything. He especially enjoyed working with wood. He built many furniture pieces and restored and refinished countless other pieces. Leo turned many pieces of junk back into treasures, giving most of it away to family and friends.\r\nAt an early age, Leo took up playing the push button accordion, which he continued to play until recently, entertaining the residents at the nursing home. He also played the harmonica. For their entire married life of 60 years, Leo and his beloved wife, Lenore, enjoyed dancing together as well as camping, gardening, fishing and playing cards.\r\nFollowing his retirement in the early 1980's, Leo and Lenore traveled throughout the United States in their RV and on bus trips.\r\nLeo is survived by his daughter, Gail Stuttgen of Owen; two sons, Randy (Holly) of Hubertus, WI, and Dan (Lily) of Green Bay, WI; two daughters-in-law, Pam of River Falls, WI, and Linda of Eagan, MN; twelve grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Hilda and Rita Stuttgen; and by numerous other relatives and friends.\r\nLeo was preceded in death by his wife, Lenore; his sons, Michael and Gregory; his parents; three brothers, Ben, Nick, and Jerry; and a sister, Anna Micke.\r\nMass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, January 9, 2008, at St. James the Greater Catholic Church, Eau Claire with Father John A. Schultz and Monsignor Edmund Klimek officiating. Burial will be in Resurrection Chapel Mausoleum at Calvary Cemetery, Eau Claire. Family and friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home, 814 First Ave., Eau Claire, and one hour prior to Mass Wednesday at the church. \r\nMemorials will be designated in Leo's name to charities to be chosen at a later date.
