Obituary

Leonard C. Christianson, 91, of Chippewa Falls, died Wednesday, October 5, 2011, at Chippewa Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation in Chippewa Falls, WI. Leonard was born in Strum, WI, on July 7, 1920, a son of Palmer and Dora (Holte) Christianson. Following school, Leonard enlisted in the U.S. Navy, with his brother, Ernie, for the duration of World War II. He served on the USS Platte as a Chief Petty Officer. Leonard married Agnes Hugdahl in 1948, she preceded him in death. Leonard married Helen Evenson in 2001, she also preceded him in death. Leonard worked for Uniroyal Tire for 35 years, retiring at the age of 61. Leonard was a long time member of First Lutheran Church. Leonard was an avid hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed cooking for his family. Leonard was an excellent husband, father, and grandpa. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends. Leonard is survived by his daughter, Cheryl (Frank) Akey of Eau Claire; three sons, Dean (Arlene) Hugdahl of Racine, WI, Dennis (Ardelle) Hugdahl of Farmington, MN, and Steven Christianson of Eau Claire. Leonard is also survived by his children from his marriage to Helen and numerous grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wives; parents; two brothers, Ernie and Alfred; and a sister, Helen Blomquist. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, October 8, 2011, at First Lutheran Church, 1005 Oxford Ave. in Eau Claire with Pastor Scott Miller officiating. Burial will be at Forest Hill Cemetery in Eau Claire with military honors conducted by VFW Post #305. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church. Memorials are preferred to the donor's choice.
