Lewis "Lewey" A. Coyer, 86, of Mahtomedi, MN and formerly of Eau Claire, died Thursday, June 27, 2002, at Greeley Healthcare Center in Stillwater, MN.\r\nHe was born on November 20, 1915 in Chippewa Falls to Sever and Beaulah (Page) Coyer. At the age of three, his family moved to Eau Claire where he graduated from Eau Claire Senior High School in 1935.\r\nHe served in England with the U.S. Army from June 10, 1941, until his honorable discharge on November 13, 1945. \r\nLewis married Mary Birge on September 7, 1946, in Eau Claire.\r\nHe was employed 44 years at Uniroyal, retiring in 1981.\r\nHe was an active member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church serving as head usher for over 44 years. He was a member of Eau Claire Lodge #112 F&AM, the Scottish Rite Valley of Eau Claire, Zor Shrine Temple of Madison, and Mehara Shrine Club of Eau Claire, and a member of American Legion Post #53 for over 50 years. He was a past member of the Golden K Kiwanis Club. \r\nSurvivors include his wife, Mary; son, James Coyer of Haren, Netherlands; daughter, Marcia (Richard), grandchildren, Michael, Anne and Jon Senkler all of Hugo, MN; sister-in-law, Marjorie Rylander of Eau Claire; niece, Beth (John) DeRosier of Eau Claire; nephew, Gary Rylander of Chicago, IL; and his special dog, Sparky.\r\nHis parents and a brother, Martin, preceded him in death.\r\nA special thankyou to the staff at St. John's Hospital, Maplewood, MN, and for the loving care Lewis received from Greeley Healthcare Center and Toni Schilts of Chippewa Falls.\r\nFuneral services will be at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 3, 2002 at Our Saviors Lutheran Church with Pastor Gary F. Sahs officiating. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery where American Legion Post #53 will conduct military honor graveside rites. Visitation will be 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at the church.
