Lila A. Schreiber, 87, of Altoona, died Saturday, May 19, 2001 at her home. She was born on December 23, 1913, in Cream, Wisconsin the daughter of William and Elfa (Suhr) Esbach. As a child, Lila moved with her family to Cochrane where she graduated from Cochrane High School. \r\nShe married Ervin E. Schreiber on September 9, 1931, in Cochrane, at her parent's home. Lila and Ervin farmed in Waumandee Township until Ervin's death in 1976. Lila then moved to Altoona. She worked at Sacred Heart Hospital, Eau Claire, as a nurse's aide and also did volunteer work at the hospital.\r\nShe was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church in Eau Claire. \r\nSurvivors include two sons, David (Jere) of Virginia Beach, VA, and Walter (Kris) of Eau Claire; a daughter, Jean Borgwardt of Rosemont, MN; eight grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.\r\nLila was also preceded in death by her parents, two infant brothers and her son-in-law, Loren Borgwardt.\r\nMemorial services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 23, 2001 at Messiah Lutheran Church, with Pastor Mark Gullerud officiating. Friends may call one half hour prior to services Wednesday at the church. Family graveside committal services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Waumandee Public Cemetery in Buffalo County. Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home, is handling arrangements.
