LILLIAN JANE GILBERT, 81, of 1511 Spooner Ave., Altoona, died Tuesday, April 13, 1999 at her home after a long battle with cancer. She was born on March 21, 1918 in Eau Claire, to Charles and Marie (Miller) Thurston. She was a bartender and waitress at Bud's Bar&Grill and at Railhaven Bar in Altoona.\r\nSurvivors include, four sons, Richard (Edith) Gilbert of Eau Claire, Donald (Donna) Gilbert of Altoona, Charles W. (Diana) Gilbert of Augusta, Kenneth (Jean) Gilbert of Union Grove; two daughters, Alice M. (Tom) Steuding, and Judith (Buck) Owens both of Altoona; eighteen grandchildren; twenty five great-grandchildren; two brothers, Robert W. (Betty) Thurston of Eau Claire and Fred "Fuzzy" (Sue) Thurston of Green Bay; three sisters, Dorothy M. Jarosch, of Sarasota, FL, Ruth Ensign and Evelyn Poteet both of Oregon. She is also survived by Benji, her dog.\r\nShe was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, infant, Charles Thurston and James Thurston.\r\nFuneral Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home with Pastor Robert A. Garbisch officiating. Burial will be in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery. Friends may call from 9 a.m. Saturday until time of services at the funeral home.
