Linda D. Larson, age 76, passed peacefully June 30th, 2025 surrounded by family and friends at her home in Altoona Wisconsin.
Linda was born on October 5th, 1948, to Minnie (Nichols) and Douglas Wahl at Luther Hospital in Eau Claire.
Linda was baptized April 24, 1949 at Concordia Lutheran Church in Eau Claire and confirmed May 27, 1962 at Epiphany Lutheran Church in Eau Claire.
Linda graduated from Eau Claire Memorial High School in 1966. She then graduated from Eau Claire Vocational, Technical and Adult School in 1967 with a One Year Diploma in General Clerical, Medical Emphasis.
She had many challenging and rewarding careers throughout her working life, right out of high school she worked in Food Service at Luther Hospital then as a receptionist at E.M. Hale & Co. She was an Avon representative and worked part time until 1984 when she started at Super 8 Motel in housekeeping and quickly worked her way to Front Desk Manager. She then went to Sliver Spring Gardens making Horseradish while also working at Mega Food and as a Mail Clerk at the University of Wisconsin Eau Claire. In 1994 she went to Northland Buildings working as a Contact Auditor until her retirement in 2009.
Linda married Larry Larson in 1969 later divorcing in 1991. Their son Scott, was born in March of 1975. Linda and Larry were avid "car enthusiasts." They were members of The National Nomad Club and River City Street Rods and truly did "See the USA in their Chevrolet" traveling to many meets across the country. She was also proud to say she still has her first car, her 1955 Chevy Bel Air.
Linda purchased her home in Altoona in 1992 Her home was a place of many fond memories with her son, granddaughter, grandson, and the love of her life Lyle Opsal.
Linda and Lyle had many adventures during their long and loving time together. They enjoyed many years of camping at Echo Bay Resort in Birchwood, WI. They also traveled to many places, including a 43 day road trip to and through Alaska and several years of "Snowbirding" in Arizona.
She loved her family, Lyle, cardinals, Alaska, and a good bargain.
Linda is proceeded in death by her parents, Minnie and Douglas Wahl, her brother Ronald Wahl, her sister Gloria Richter, and nephew Micheal Wahl.
Linda is survived by her son Scott (Jacky) Larson, their children Emily and Jacob Larson and Emily Hoff. Most importantly the love of her life Lyle Opsal, his daughter Amy Lillivold, and her children Weston and Aden many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
A celebration of Linda's life will be held on July 17, 2025 from 4 to 8pm at VFW Post 7232 (2900 West Folsom Street) in Eau Claire. The VFW was chosen because when Linda was born, Min and Doug stopped here (then The Swiss Chalet) to show off the new baby before heading home.
