Obituary

Lloyd K. Holden, 85, of Eau Claire, died Friday, October 17, 2008, at his home. He was born in Evanston, IL, on December 18, 1922, the son of Lee and Edna (Cass) Holden. He grew up and lived most of his life in Fostoria, Ohio and was a member of the 1938 Fostoria High School hall of fame football team.After serving in the Army Air Corp during WWII, Lloyd married Rolda E. Kirk on August 7, 1946, in Green Bay, WI. For over forty years, he traveled as a sales representative for football equipment reconditioning companies until his retirement in 1999. His customers included many high schools and colleges in Ohio, Indiana, Michigan, and West Virginia. In 1999, Lloyd, Rolda, and Tom moved to Eau Claire, WI. Lloyd loved his grandchildren, boating, hunting and spending time at the family cottage on a small lake in Wisconsin, where he and his son Tom continued to visit during his last years.Lloyd is survived by his three sons, Michael (Theresa) Holden, of Austin, TX, Stephen (Carol) Holden of Lancaster, PA, and Tom Holden of Eau Claire; three grandchildren Elizabeth (Jesse) Holden of Lancaster, PA, Anne and Bill Holden both of Austin, TX; great grandson Elliot Holden of Lancaster, PA; two brothers-in-law, Robert (Theresa) Kirk of Findlay, OH, and David Kirk of Canberra, Australia; a sister-in-law, Beverly Kirk of Findlay, OH; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Rolda in 2003; and two sisters, Florence Herbert and Mildred Williams.Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, October 22, 2008, at First Congregational United Church of Christ, 310 Broadway St., Eau Claire, where he was a member, with the Rev. Mark X. Pirazzini officiating. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery in the town of Washington, WI. Friends may call one hour prior to services Wednesday at the church chapel. Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home is serving his family.Memorials may be sent for the activities fund at Mt.
