Lloyd L. Prochnow, 88, of Eau Claire passed away on Friday, January 6, 2012 at Orchard Hills Assisted Living. He was born on July 20, 1923, the son of Ben and Susan (Haldeman) in Dunn County. Lloyd graduated with the Class of 1941 from Colfax high School. He entered and served in the U.S. Army during WWII. Following an honorable discharge, he returned to the home farm with his brother and family. In 1969, Lloyd sold out and began working at Luther Hospital as the Supervisor of Environmental Services. After retiring in 1986, Lloyd filled his time by truly enjoying travel, fishing, hunting, and woodcarving. Lloyd is survived by his brother, Ben F. Prochnow; two nephews, Dennis J (Carol) Prochnow, Ben L. (Jody Hayes) Prochnow; and several great nieces and great nephews, Greg (Sherry) Prochnow, Wendy (Eric) Kellen, Bettina (Paul) Zivney, and Danielle Hayes, Trevor Prochnow, and Reba Prochnow. Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn WEST CHAPEL, 1405 N. Clairemont Ave., will host visitation at 11:30 a.m. and a funeral service at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 15, 2012. Lloyd will be buried in Forest Hill Cemetery, alongside his parents Ben and Susan Prochnow and sister-in-law Marlys Prochnow, with military honors conducted by American Legion #53. Our family would like to extend a thank you to Orchard Hills and Mayo Clinic Hospice staff for their support, kindness, care and compassion for Lloyd.
