\r\nLois K. Bodley, age 100, of Eau Claire passed away peacefully the morning of January 30, 2011 at Syverson Lutheran Home.\r\nLois was born to Bessie and Henry Kennedy on July 18, 1910 in Coshocton, OH. She graduated from high school in Coshocton; she earned a bachelor's degree from Ohio Wesleyan University and earned a master's degree in social work from Case Western Reserve University. She began her career at the YMCA in Hartford, CT.\r\nLois married Herbert Bodley in Coshocton in 1935. They began their married life in Cleveland, OH where they worked at the Alta Settlement House in Little Italy. While in Cleveland they began their family. Their careers took them to Minneapolis, MN, St. Louis, MO, Sioux Falls, SD, Duluth, MN, and Rockford, IL. Throughout these moves Lois worked as a social worker in the school systems. Herb ended his career in Rockford with the United Fund Organization. After retirement in 1975 Lois and Herb moved to Eau Claire, WI. Lois and Herb happily lived together for over 48 years.\r\nLois spent most of her life as a loving wife and a devoted mother and grandmother. Two of her favorite pastimes were sewing and knitting. She helped sew her two daughter's wedding dresses and knit an afghan for each grandchild upon their graduation from high school. The most important parts of Lois' life were her family, her friends and her strong Christian faith.\r\nLois was a member of Alpha Zi Delta Sorority, P.E.O. Sisterhood, Phi Beta Kappa, Chapel Heights United Methodist Church and Hope United Methodist Church. She volunteered at Luther Hospital, Meals on Wheels, Books for Homebound, and Chapel Heights United Methodist Church.\r\nLois is preceded in death by her parents; husband; and one grandchild, Sharon Bodley-Huppertz. She is survived by three children, Carolyn (Dan) Johnson, of Eau Claire, Dan (Jan) Bodley of Glen Ellyn, IL, and Margaret (John) Thatcher of Cape Elizabeth, ME; 7 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.\r\nLois' family is deeply grateful for the loving care she received from the dedicated staff at Syverson Lutheran Home.\r\nMemorial Service will be at 3 p.m., Wednesday, March 16, 2011, at Syverson Lutheran Home Chapel, 816 Porter Avenue, Eau Claire, with Pastor Debra Boynton officiating. Interment will be at a later date.The family prefers that memorials be given to either Luther Hospital or Syverson Lutheran Home.
