IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Lois Ann
Wells
September 28, 1927 – November 21, 2023
Lois Ann (Cadwallader) Wells, born September 28, 1927, stepped into eternal life on November 21, 2023. She was preceded in death by her husband Edward E. Wells, her siblings Miles Cadwallader Jr., Maxine Moran, Joy Fertitta and Joseph Cadwallader and her daughters-in-law Deidre Wells and Jennifer Wells.
Lois was a native of rural Nebraska and grew up on a farm during the Great Depression and the Dust Bowl. She occasionally shared stories from her childhood that were still fascinating 80 years later but would have been absolutely harrowing to live through.
A fine vocalist, Lois graduated Hastings College (Nebraska) in 1949 with a major in Music, minoring in English and French. During this time, she met her future husband Edward who was completing a degree in music education from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. After marrying and teaching briefly in northwestern Nebraska she and Edward relocated to Michigan City, Indiana. They subsequently lived in suburban Chicago and Minneapolis before retiring to Eau Claire, Wisconsin for the last 30 years of their lives.
Lois traveled extensively and as the result of a trip to Israel she acquired a deep and permanent love for the culture, its citizens and their desire to establish a lasting homeland as God's chosen people. She maintained contact with Israeli residents thereafter and frequently gave presentations on this topic. More importantly, she loved the Lord and was always available to her family and friends as a counselor, minister and prayer warrior.
Lois is survived by three sons David (Susan), Stephen (Lori) and Barry (Lisa): by grandchildren Rachel (Daniel) Johnson, Jonathan (Meg) Wells, Jeremy Wells, Micaela Wells, Allison (Brett) Nelson, Brian Wells, Adeline Wells, Chelsea (Marc) Hofacker and Matthew (Kylee) Wells; and by great-grandchildren Fiona and Bo Johnson, Everett and Owen Nelson, Emily, Noah and Isla Hofacker and Bella Wells.
The Wells' family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to the staff of Grace Willowbrook and St. Croix Hospice for their excellent care.
A celebration of life will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, January 6th at Harvestime Church (3625 Southwind Drive, Eau Claire) with Pastor Kim Buckman officiating. Visitation begins one hour beforehand at the church. Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral and Cremation Services is assisting the family.
