Loren A. Anderson, 89, of Eau Claire died Sunday, February 17, 2008, at Syverson Lutheran Home. He was born in Eau Claire on August 16, 1918, the son of Leonard and Marie (Samuelson) Anderson.\r\nHe graduated from Eau Claire Senior High School, and received his Bachelor of Science Degree from Eau Teachers College, now the University of Wisconsin Eau Claire. \r\nHe taught one year at the Junior High in Eau Claire, and was then called into service on September 16, 1942. He served his country in the U.S. Air Corps, stationed in San Francisco, CA. Loren attained the rank of Captain, and was honorably discharged on February 24, 1946.\r\nLoren married Yvonne A. Sletner on July 25, 1959, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Eau Claire, and they had one son, Robert. They moved to California where he taught for 23 years in Inglewood, CA. He went on to earn his Masters Degree at the University of Southern California.\r\nHis wife, Yvonne passed away in 1987, and Loren and his son returned to Eau Claire.\r\nLoren is survived by his son, Robert, (Mary Jo) Anderson; two grandchildren, Megan and Daniel; his sister Dee Lewis; sister-in-law, Irene Johnson; brother-in-law, Henry (Lu Ann) Sletner; niece, Cynthia Lewis all of Eau Claire; four nephews, Steve (Lynda) Sletner and Mike (Lynda) Sletner both of Eau Claire, Bob (Pamela) Lewis of Fond du Lac, and Tom Johnson of New Richmond; two cousins, Roger Anderson of Long Beach, CA, and Erv (Betty) Tanning of White Bear Lake, MN; and his special friend, Maxine Christopher of Eau Claire.\r\nHe was also preceded in death by his parents; and a brother-in-law, Alton Lewis.\r\nLoren's family would like to express their appreciation for all of the compassion and loving care he received from the staff at Syverson Lutheran Home. Thanks also to Northwest Wisconsin Hospice and Dr. Setla, who gave him so much loving care.\r\nFuneral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, February, 20, 2008, at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home with the Rev. David J. Irgens officiating. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery in Eau Claire.
