Obituary

LOREN O. SHELLEY, 80, of 2002 Providence Court, passed away Wednesday, February 24, 2000 in Winter Haven, Florida.Loren was born on June 5, 1919 to Olaf Schelley and Ruth Ginder. Loren was a life long resident of Eau Claire. He graduated from Eau Claire Senior High School in 1936.Loren served in the European Theatre with the U.S. Army during WWII, in the 44th Division. He was discharged in 1945 as a staff sergeant. He was a member of the VFW Post #305.On June 30, 1946, Loren married Sybil Olson at Grace Lutheran Church in Eau Claire. He worked for the City of Eau Claire for thirty-five years, retiring in 1980 as City Shop Foreman.Loren was a life long musician, well known by all for his work on the trombone and tenor sax. He served as president of the local Musicians Union for many years, and also served as the state president. As a member of Grace Lutheran Church, he sang in the choir for 53 years and at Grace Lutheran Church in Winter Haven, he sang in the choir for 18 years. He loved music.For him, there was no other sport but golf. He loved the game.He is survived by his wife, Sybil; two daughters, Ann Marten of Wisconsin Rapids and Amy (John) Noel of Decorah, Iowa; four grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and his brother Jerome of Clark Fork, Idaho.He was dearly loved and will be missed by all.
