Lorn E. Larson, 91, of Eau Claire, died Thursday, May 5, 2011, at Syverson Lutheran Home in Eau Claire. Lorn was born near Eleva in Albin Township, on January 22, 1920, a son of George and Sarah (Larson) Larson. Lorn was a cheese maker prior to enlisting in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was deployed overseas in 1942, where he served in the European Theater and took part in 6 amphibious landings. He remained overseas until his honorable discharge in October 1945. Lorn married Edith L. Ede on June 8, 1946, at Thompson Valley Lutheran Church, in Mondovi, WI. They were happily married for 64 years.\r\nLorn worked for Uniroyal Tire Company for 37 years until his retirement in 1982. Lorn was a dedicated member of First Lutheran Church. Lorn enjoyed traveling, attending army reunions, volunteering and spending time with grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Lorn is survived by his loving wife, Edith; daughter, Linda (Karl) Schroeder of Appleton; son, David (Diane) Larson of Menomonie; son-in-law, Thomas Weizenegger of Chippewa Falls; four grandsons, Bradley (Jenny) Schroeder of Sun Prairie, Brett (Sara) Schroeder of Appleton, Edward Weizenegger of Chippewa Falls and Andrew Larson of Menomonie; two great-grandsons, William and Griffin Schroeder of Appleton; great-granddaughter, Sawyer Schroeder of Sun Prairie; brother, Grant (Phyllis) Larson of Eau Claire; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Amy Weizenegger; brother, Edgar Larson; and a brother in infancy. Funeral services will be held at Noon, Monday, May 9, 2011, at First Lutheran Church, 1005 Oxford Ave. in Eau Claire with Pastor Scott Miller officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery in Eau Claire with Military Rites provided by VFW Post #305. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to Noon prior to the services Monday at the church.
