Lorraine Abigail Market, age 90, of Eau Claire, passed away peacefully surrounded by her children, on Wednesday, December 10, 2014, in Grace's Garden at the Syverson Lutheran Home in Eau Claire. She was born on March 2, 1924, in Eau Claire to Edward and Gunda (Froseth) Swanson. She graduated from Eau Claire Senior High where she enjoyed the marching band and later joined the Eau Claire City Band. On June 15, 1947, Lorraine married the love of her life, Donald G. Market. She worked as a certified Surgery Technician at Sacred Heart Hospital and retired in 1990. Lorraine was an active member of the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd where she organized the funeral lunches for many years. Lorraine is survived by her daughter, Judy Phillips of Eau Claire; two sons, Larry (Susan) Market of Townsend, WI, and Roger (Vicki) Market of Charlotte, NC; 7 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; 8 great-great-grandchildren and expecting one more in February; she is also survived by several nieces, nephews and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Donald; brother, Edward Swanson; and three sisters, Eileen Sleeper, Joyce Parker and Ione Dickens. The Funeral Service will be at 11 am, on Saturday, December 13, 2014, at the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, 1120 Cedar St. in Eau Claire, with a visitation one hour prior to the service. Pastor Michael Wollman will be officiating. Interment will be at Rest Haven Cemetery in the Town of Washington. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Grace's Garden at the Syverson Lutheran Home, 816 Porter Avenue, Eau Claire WI, 54701 or to St. Croix Hospice, 1280 West Clairemont Avenue, Eau Claire WI, 54701.
