Most beloved Lorraine L. Newberry, 82, of Eau Claire, died Sunday, December 16, 2018 at Grace Woodlands in Altoona. She was born on January 2, 1936 in Eau Claire, to Lester and Lucile (Myers) Rumphol. Lorraine and Merle Newberry had a long and wonderful 33 years of marriage. The whole of her life was that of a loving wife, mother and grandmother and an amazing matriarch. Lorraine's hobbies included sewing, baking and fashion, of which we all remember her for. She is survived by her daughters, Katherine (Larry) Grahs, Patricia (Darrel) Newberry, Evelyn (Shawn) Nelson, and Betty (James) Gottfredson. As a grandmother, she was blessed with 12 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. She is also survived by 7 siblings and other extended family. Lorraine is preceded in death by her husband, Merle; son-in-law, Thomas Riphburgh; and 5 siblings. Lorraine was an esteemed member of the Birch Street Baptist Church, 3120 Birch St., where a memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, December 20, 2018, with Pastor Timothy Hallett officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service, Thursday at the church. Inurnment will be in Lutheran Church Cemetery in Eau Claire with lunch to follow at the church.
