Lucile Johnson Ireland, 93, formerly of 907 Porter Ave., died Friday, April 4, 1997 at the Clairemont. She was born October 19, 1903 in Bloomington, IL, the daughter of Perry B. and Mary Catherine (Smith) Johnson. Lucile graduated from Bloomington High School in 1921, and Illinois Wesleyan University in 1925 where she was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority. After graduation she was head of the English Department at Easton High School, Easton,IL, until her marriage to Everett B. Ireland on June 21, 1927 in Bloomington. They lived in Eau Claire from 1930 until 1943 when they moved to Milwaukee where she taught in the public schools. Later years saw them residing in various parts of the Midwest and California, returning to Dixon,IL, in 1958 where Everett died in 1970. Following her retirement, Lucile returned to Eau Claire to be near her daughter and family. She was a member of Chapel Heights United Methodist Church and the PEO Sisterhood.\r\nSurvivors include two children, Jane (Donald) Ireland Alm of Eau Claire and Everett (Joan) Ireland of San Diego, CA; 7 grandchildren, Kathryn (Chester) Alm Sielski of Clarence,NY, Elisabeth (Felix) Alm-Sanchez of Matawan,NJ, David (Christine) Alm of Lawrenceville, GA, Steven (Holly) Alm of Appleton, Gail (Robert) Ireland Boyle of Santa Monica,CA, William (Ellen) Ireland of Venice,CA and Thomas (Juli) Ireland of Aliso Viejo,CA; and 11 great-grandchildren.\r\nFuneral Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Chapel Heights United Methodist Church with Pastor Calvin W. Carey officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Dixon,IL. Friends may call one hour prior to services Monday at the church. Lenmark-Gomsrud Funeral Home is serving the family.\r\nThe family requests that in lieu of flowers memorials be directed to Chapel Heights United Methodist Church or the Meals-on-Wheels program.
