Lucile G. Smith, age 96, of Eau Claire, passed away on Friday, August 11, 2017, at her residence. Lucile was born on March 10, 1921, in Colfax, to Cecil and Sylvia (Garnett) Biesecker. She attended Central High School, graduating with the Class of 1939. Lucile married Eugene E. Smith on April 15, 1941, in Chicago. She was a member of Truax Congregational United Church of Christ. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, knitting, ceramics, baking and cards. She donated 25 years of volunteer service to the Chippewa Valley Museum and was active in her church. In her early years, she was a leader in the Truax Eagles 4-H Club and spent many years being a PTA mom. Lucile is survived by her children, Jeff (Nancy) Smith and Steve (Ann) Smith of Eau Claire, Janice (Charles) Porter of Norcross, GA, Brian (Sandy) Smith of Stevens Point, WI, and Lori (Nick) Mellecker of Hills, IA; brother, Donald (Elvera) Biesecker of Eau Claire; niece, Ann Struck of Eau Claire; many grandchildren, step-grandchildren, great grandchildren, step-great grandchildren and step great-great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband; parents; and nephew, Russel Biesecker. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Truax Congregational United Church of Christ or to the Chippewa Valley Museum, 517 S. Farwell St, Eau Claire, 54701. A memorial service will be held at 12 p.m. on Saturday, August 19, 2017, at Truax Congregational United Church of Christ, 1008 S 50th St, Rt 2, Eau Claire, with Rev. David Stratton officiating. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will take place at a later date in Lakeview Cemetery, Eau Claire.
