Lucille "Lucy" I. Boettcher, age 80, of Eau Claire finished her journey home to her heavenly father and her beloved husband, John on Thursday, March 07, 2013. She died peacefully while surrounded by family at Mayo Clinic Health System, Eau Claire. Lucy was born on July 8, 1932, to John and Gladys (Bortle) LaMuska in Eau Claire, WI. She married her soul mate, John Boettcher at Grace Lutheran Church in Eau Claire on January 30, 1954. Together they operated Deluxe Bakery in Eau Claire for 22 years until 1987. Her children were everything to her and she supported them in everything they did. Even though the bakery was sold to her daughter in 1987, one of her biggest joys was still being able to help out Sue at the bakery "when ever and where ever" she was needed and was especially known for her beautiful cake decorting. Over the last 32 years, she never missed watching her son, Duey, in the annual CenterStage Band and Show Choir production at the Grand Theater in Wausau, WI, sitting right in front so he was sure to hear her appreciation. Lucy was an active life-member of the auxiliary of Beaver Unit 550 in Brackett, WI and was also an avid bingo player around town and at Treasure Island, where she met many wonderful friends. She was a caring, thoughtful, and loving person who enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and all she asked in return was that everyone was happy. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her. Lucy is survived by her son, DuWayne (Rhonda) of Weston; daughter, Susan (William) Ranney of Eau Claire; four grandchildren, Angela Boettcher of San Diego, CA; Abigail Boettcher (Kathleen McKenna) of San Francisco, CA; Joshua Ranney (Rachel Harding) of Chippewa Falls; and Matthew Ranney (Angie Sorenson) of Ripon, WI; two great-grandchildren Henry McKenna Boettcher and Bailey Ranney; sister Shirley Blaisdell and brother Howard LaMuska both of Eau Claire, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, John; parents, two brothers, Wes and Roger, and sister, Ann. Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, March 10, 2013, at Lenmark Gomsrud Linn Funeral Home, 814 First Avenue, Eau Claire. Funeral Service will be at 11 a.m. on Monday at Grace Lutheran Church, 202 West Grand Avenue, Eau Claire, with a visitation one hour prior to the service at church. Pastor David J. Irgens will be officiating. Interment will be in Rest Haven Cemetery, town of Washington. In lieu of flowers, Lucy's family requests memorials be directed to: the Dialysis Unit at Luther Hospital, 1221 Whipple Street, Eau Claire, WI 54703; Brackett American Legion Auxiliary, 2251 Lynn Ave, Altoona, WI 54720; or Grace Lutheran Church, 202 Grand Avenue, Eau Claire, WI 54701.
