Lucille M. "Lu" Eggen, 90, formerly of 2417 13th St., died Saturday, April 28, 2001 at the M.B. Syverson Lutheran Home. She was born in Eau Claire on October 20, 1910 to John and Magdalena (Aebly) Hoesly. Lu grew up in Eau Claire, graduating from Eau Claire Senior High School. She graduated from Eau Claire Normal School in 1930 and then taught third grade in Cornell, WI. Lucille married Edwin C. Eggen in Eau Claire on Sept. 11, 1933 at her family home. She was a charter member of Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd where she had been actively involved in its women's organizations, the church library, book club and the children's Sunday school. Survivors include a nephew, John Hoesly of Rochester,MN; a niece, Marion Hoesly of Eau Claire; a great nephew, Steve (Tami) Hoesly of Monroe, WI; two great nieces, Lynn Hoesly of Eau Claire and Barb (Paul) Price of Austin, MN; several great-great nephews and a great-great niece. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin in 1998; her parents; and a nephew, Dr. Harvey Hoesly. Funeral Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 2, 2001 at Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd with Pastor John E. Hosmann officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery. Friends may call an hour prior to services Wednesday at the church. please be directed to Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd or the Eau Claire County Humane Association.
