Lucille I. Helwig, 81, of 3335 Riley Street, Eau Claire died Tuesday, December 23, 2003 at Sacred Heart Hospital. She was born in the town of Wheaton, Chippewa County on February 22, 1922, the daughter of James and Jennie (Perry) McFaul. Lucille married Charles F. Helwig at St. Patrick's Rectory in Eau Claire on July 12, 1944. \r\nShe graduated from Eau Claire Teachers College and taught school at many rural Eau Claire schools, Sacred Heart, and St. Olaf's schools. She farmed with her husband in the town of Brunswick until 1980 when they moved to Eau Claire. Lucille and Charles owned and operated Helwig's Catering for over 35 years. They have wintered in Donna, TX for the past 20 years.\r\nBefore country school consolidation she served as president of the town of Brunswick School Board. Lucille was past president of the St. Patrick's Ladies Guild, working at many functions. She was active in the Eau Claire County 4H, receiving many awards. Lucille enjoyed delivering communion to the shut-ins in Donna, TX.\r\nSurvivors include her husband of 59 years, Charles; two daughters, Mary (Gary) Wright of Hayward and Susan (Patrick) Fox of Chatfield, MN; two sons, James (Deborah) and John (Penny) both of Eau Claire; ten grandchildren, Desiree (Jason) Flanders, Jennie (Kyle Flanders, fiancé), Michael (Jenae), Jonathon, Kari, and Kayla Helwig, Scott (Wendy) Wright, Anthony (Julie) and Thomas (Aubrey Stark, fiancé) Fox and Elizabeth (Kevin) Price; five great-grandchildren, Dakota and Austin Helwig and Drew, Luke, and Lydon Wright; brother, Lyle McFaul; sister, Gladys Johnson; two brothers-in-law, Clifford Rayment and Martin (Jeannine) Helwig; and sister-in-law, Betty (Chester) Knudtson.\r\nLucille was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Margaret Smith and Molly Rayment; brothers-in-law, Herbert Smith and Howard Johnson; and sisters-in-law, Louise McFaul and Gloria Helwig.\r\nFuneral Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, December 27, 2003 at St Patrick's Catholic Church with Father William Dhein officiating. Burial will be in Brunswick Cemetery in the town of Brunswick. Family and friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home and one hour prior to services Saturday at the church. There will be a public rosary at 7:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.\r\nFamily requests memorials be directed to St. Patrick's Church, St. Bedes Priory, Sacred Heart Hospital Chapel, or to the donor's choice.\r\n
