Obituary

Lucille "Lou" Loraine Welter (nee Schultz), 86, of Eau Claire, died on Sunday, June 23, 2013, at Sacred Heart Hospital. She was born on February 13, 1927, in Eau Claire. She was preceded in death by her father, Henry Schultz; her beloved mother, Mary (Schober) Schultz; and her husband of 56 years, Duane "Curly" Welter. Lucille is survived by her sons, Jim (Lou) and John Welter; grandchildren, Alicia (Shawn) Weisenbeck, Paul (Rebecca) and Christopher (Nicole) Welter; great grandchildren Kaden, Katelyn, Danny, Andy, Chante and Cevon; as well as numerous family members and friends that have been so supportive. Lou was a loving and loyal wife, especially during Curly's long and extreme physical decline, a very loving and supportive mother and grandmother, dependable friend to many, tireless volunteer, longtime member of St. James the Greater Catholic Church and 30 year volunteer for Birthright. Mom enjoyed a good laugh, nearly always had a smile on her face, was highly informed on current events and was always open to hear divergent opinions. Mom was a gracious, compassionate, generous, warm and extremely loyal person. Her dying wish was to get this message to her friends, family and caretakers: "I remember you with prayers, appreciation and love for all you did in my life." There really is much more to the story, but it can be summed up by saying "she is truly irreplaceable." Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, July 2, 2013, at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home, 814 First Ave., Eau Claire, with a Public Prayer Vigil at 7:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 12 p.m. Noon on Wednesday, July 3, 2013, at St. James the Greater Catholic Church, 2502 11th St., Eau Claire, with Fr. John A. Schultz officiating. Visitation will also be one hour prior to Mass at church. Private interment will be at Forest Hill Cemetery in Eau Claire at a later date.
