LYDIA A. SORKNESS, 86, of 440 Union St., died Tuesday, August 19, 1997 at Luther Hospital. She was born August 5, 1911 in Trout Creek, Grant Township, Colfax,Wisconsin to Carl and Elizabeth (Sandvig) Sorkness. \r\nLydia graduated form Colfax High School with the Class of 1929. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, where she had been active in Deborah Circle and Reading Club. \r\nShe operated Lydia's Food Store for 20 years and then retired from the Farmer Store in 1969.\r\nSurvivors include a sister, Lillian Moen of Eau Claire; two brothers, Eldor of Bloomer and Kenneth (Ruth) of Burbank,CA; three sisters-in-laws, Viola Sorkness of Eau Claire, Irene Sorkness Nepstad of Milwaukee and Donna Sorkness of Escandido,CA; nieces and nephews, Carol Burckhardt of Portland,OR, Karen Sorkness of Baraboo, David (Carol) Sorkness of 9 Miles Falls,WA, Rita Sorkness, Rodney Sorkness and John(Leslie)Moen all of Eau Claire, Ronald(Christine)Sorkness of Madison, , Glen(Rosalyn)Sorkness of Burbank,CA, Alan(Sandy)Sorkness of Camarillo,CA, and John Sorkness of Escandido,CA; a niece-in-law, Kathy Sorkness of Eau Claire; and several great nieces and nephews. \r\nLydia was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, Morris, Gordon, Delno and Reuben; two sisters, Dagny Sorkness and Gilma Broman; and a nephew Gregory Sorkness.\r\nFuneral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday at Grace Lutheran Church with Pastor Howard Fehr officiating. Burial will be in Faith Lutheran Church Cemetery of Running Valley, Colfax. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Lenmark-Gomsrud Funeral Home and an hour prior to services Saturday at the church.\r\n
