LYLE F. BARTHELS, 50, of Richmond, Virginia, died Wednesday, June 16, 1999 at his home. He was born July 1, 1948 to his proud parents, George and Anita (Zarling) Barthels in Burlington, WI. At the age of two, Lyle took on a fight that would last the rest of his earthly stay. Polio struck and left him with limited use of his legs. Lyle went on though, completing his high school studies at Red Wing, MN, and receiving his Bachelor's Degree in Accounting at Mankato State University in Mankato, MN.Lyle started his career as an accountant with Cargill Inc. in Minneapolis. He later moved to Houston, TX, where he worked for two major banks in the area. In 1996, Lyle accepted a position with a bank in Richmond, VA.\r\nSurvivors include his mother, Anita, of Eau Claire; three sisters, Eunice (Martin) Albrecht of Aurora, CO, Lois (Victor) Wente of Coon Rapids, MN, and Doris (David) Theneman of Sleepy Eye, MN; four brothers, Ted (Denise) of Detroit Lakes, MN, Leonard (Sandy) of Eau Claire, Daniel (Kathy) of Saginaw, MI, and Jerome (Ruth) of Ballwin, MO; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.\r\nHe was preceded in death by his father, George, in 1990; and a brother, Martin G. Barthels.\r\nGraveside committal services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Lakeview Cemetery, followed by Memorial Services at 2 p.m. at Messiah Lutheran Church with Pastor Paul M. Tiefel officiating. Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home is assisting the family.\r\n
