Lyle N. Rostad, 79, formerly 3015 Ellis St., Eau Claire, died Thursday, December 27, 2001, at Bethany-Riverside Nursing Home in La Crosse, Wisconsin.\r\nLyle was born May 12, 1922 in Menomonie, WI, to Peter and Anna (Score) Rostad. He grew up in Eau Claire and graduated from Eau Claire Senior High School and attended the Chippewa Valley Technical College.\r\nHe married Jean L. Knutson on June 5, 1948 at First Lutheran Church in Eau Claire.\r\nLyle was a veteran of World War II serving with the Finance Department of the Ninth Air Force in England and France. He was a member of the American Legion Post #53 and the Veterans of Foreign wars Post #305.\r\nHe retired in 1984 from National Presto Industries, Inc., as Manager of Finance and Accounting after 38 years of service.\r\nHe was a lifelong member of Grace Lutheran Church and served on the Board of Deacons and the Board of Trustees. He was Superintendent of the High School Sunday School for 10 years. He also served on the Board of Directors and was past President of the Grace Lutheran Foundation. He and his wife also served as President of Nordmanns Forbundet and members of the Sons of Norway Lodge and the Midwest Institute for Scandinavian Culture.\r\nHe is survived by his wife, Jean L.; daughter, Mary (Stephen) Waller of La Crescent, MN; son, Peter (Debbie) of Atlanta, GA; five grandchildren, Andrew, Mark and Daniel Waller, and Erik and Kristina Rostad; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Norman and Milton. \r\nFuneral Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, December 31, 2001 at Grace Lutheran Church with Pastor Lowell Bolstad officiating. Internment will be at Forest Hill Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday, December 30, 2001, at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home, Eau Claire and an hour prior to services Monday at the church. \r\nMemorials may be directed to Grace Lutheran Church.
