Lyle W. Solberg, 79, of Lake Tainter, Colfax and formerly of Roseville, MN, died Tuesday, June 4, 1996 at Luther Hospital as a result of an accident at home. He was born March 26, 1917 in Albertville to Axel and Laura (Dahl) Solberg. Lyle married Mary Ellen Johnston on April 8, 1941 in St. Paul. During World War II they live in San Francisco where he worked as a builder in the Navy shipyards. He was in automobile sales for many years first in Sand Creek and then in St.Paul,MN, where he retired after twenty years with Tousley Ford, White Bear Lake in 1980. He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, Menomonie.Lyle's family will have many memories of the company he would welcome into their home and his enjoyment of fishing, square dancing, golfing, playing cards and those cookies he liked to bake. \r\nSurvivors include his wife of fifty five years, Mary Ellen; two sons, Dennis (Sally Gordon) Solberg of Chippewa Falls and Thomas (Gail)Solberg of Mahtomedi, MN; grandchildren, Christopher (Janelle), Benjamin, Stephanie and their mother, Carolyn Solberg, and Katie and Laurie Solberg ; Darci and Drew Gordon; a brother, Louis (Alda) of Rusk; two sisters, Irene (Roald) Ovren of Elk Mound and Anna Gilberts of Sand Creek; Three sisters-in-law, Edna and Lillian Solberg both of Albertville, and Melvina Evenson of Colfax; many nieces, nephews, friends and a special niece Judy (Roger) Slindee of Austin, MN.\r\nHe was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Oscar, Arnold and Donald and two brothers-in-law, Garfield and Art.\r\nHis family loved him dearly and he will be sadly missed.\r\nFuneral Services will be at 11 A.M. Saturday at Christ Lutheran Church, Menomonie with Pastor Grace Swensen officiating. Burial will be in Big Elk Creek Lutheran Cemetery, Town of Wheaton. Friends may call 4 to 8 P.M. Friday at Lenmark-Gomsrud Funeral Home and one hour prior to services Saturday at the church.
