MABEL C. HAAG, 90, of 140 Ferry St., died Sunday, April 18, 1999, at Fall Creek Valley Nursing Home. She was born June 25, 1908 in Eau Claire to Martin and Ida (Ebert) Voss. She graduated from Eau Claire Senior High School and then worked ten years at Huebsch Laundry prior to her marriage. Mabel married Sylvester E. Haag on August 27, 1939 in Eau Claire. They operated their Root Beer stand on the corner of Menomonie and Race streets in the 1950's, where they were known for their hot beef sandwiches. She later was a care giver for a number of years at her home. \r\nShe was a member of Seventh Day Adventist Church in Altoona.\r\nSurvivors include a son, Gary; two grandsons, Michael and Trevor; two nieces Betty Jean (Hans) Jorgenson and Marlene Adrian all of Eau Claire; and three nephews, DuWayne Jr. and Terry Voss both of Eau Claire and James (Nancy) Voss of Colorado Springs,CO.\r\nMabel was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Sylvester in 1979; a sister, Arlene Lowe; three brothers, DuWayne, Gene and Clarence Voss; and two nieces and four nephews.\r\nFuneral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home with Pastor Arthur Miller officiating. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery. Friends may call an hour prior to services Thursday at the funeral home.\r\nFamily requests memorials be directed to the Seventh Day Adventist Church Building Fund.
