Mabel Ethel LaCosse (LaCasse), 99, formerly of Hermansville, MI, and Green Bay, WI, passed away on March 27, 2012, at Heritage Court in Eau Claire, WI. Mabel was born November 12, 1912, in Hermansville, MI, the first of four children, to Gabriel and Delia (Massie) LaCasse. She grew up in the small lumbering town, graduating from Hermansville High School with the class of 1932. She worked as a clerk at Bartls store in Hermansville for several years before moving to Green Bay to work her way through Badger Business School. After completing her studies, she went to work in the office at L. D. Schreiber Cheese Co., now Schreiber Foods, in Green Bay, where she proudly devoted herself until her retirement in 1977. She moved to Eau Claire to be closer to relatives in 2005. Mabel was a member of the Methodist Church in Hermansville and Green Bay. She was an avid reader, always keeping up with current events. She was an excellent seamstress, tailoring all of her own business suits. She was an expert at many types of needlework, including cross stitch pictures, embroidery and knitting, as well as various other crafts. She is survived by nephews and nieces, Russell (Susan) Kaul, Thomas (Darlene) Kaul and Ede (Terry) Strand, all of Eau Claire, Joyce (Thomas) Stebbing of Afton, MN, Henry Kaul of Honolulu, HI, Mae (David) Joerndt of Appleton, WI, Wayne LaCosse of Menasha, WI, Larry (Marge) LaCosse and Jeff LaCosse of Hermansville and Melanie LaCosse of Tabernash, CO; many grand nieces and nephews; a few cousins; and other distant relatives. Mabel was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers,\r\nRobert LaCosse and Howard (Betty nee Arnold)\r\nLaCosse; sister, Beatrice (William) Kaul; and nephew, Jonathan LaCosse. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, April 28th at 11:30 a.m. at Meyer Township Cemetery in Hermansville, MI. The family would like to thank the staff at Heritage Court of Eau Claire for all of the devoted care given to Mabel.
