Mabel Irene Larson, 93, died Tuesday, February 27, 1996 at Oakwood Villa Nursing Home, Altoona. She was born December 20, 1902 in Independence, WI, to Luella and John Burt. She graduated from Luther Hospital School of Nursing in 1923 and spent time traveling and pursuing her nursing career. Mabel married Olaf T. Larson on August 9, 1930. Throughout her life she was an active member of First Lutheran Church, belonged to the Shrine Auxiliary, the American Legion Auxiliary, Luther Hospital Nurses Alumni Ass'n , and the Eau Claire Women's Club. Her leisure activities included gardening, duplicate bridge, cooking and spending time with family and friends.\r\nMabel is survived by her a son, Thomas Larson of Indianapolis; two daughters, Sonja (George) Rathbun of Eau Claire and Ellie (David) Lindow of DePere; seven grandchildren, Kelley (Tim) Ockerman, Todd (Karen) Rathbun, Carrie Larson, Jennie (Joe) Ruter, Jesse Lindow, Hannah Lindow and Joshua Larson Bartholomew; six great-grandchildren; five sisters, Margaret Gitzlaff, Agnes Amble, Blanche Magnuson, Phyllis Gabriel and Verna (Brad) Gunderson and numerous nieces and nephews.\r\nShe was preceded in death by her husband, Olaf in 1974 ; a daughter Marilyn and three brothers, Clayton, Wendall and Allen.\r\nFuneral Services will be at 1 P.M. Friday at First Lutheran Church with Pastor Robert E. Esse officiating. Burial will be in St. John's Lutheran Church Cemetery. Friends may call 5 to 7 P.M. Thursday at Lenmark-Gomsrud Funeral Home and one hour prior to services Friday at the church.Family requests memorials to First Lutheran Church or the Alzheimer's Association.
