Mabel A. O'Neill, 94, of Altoona, WI, formerly of Eau Claire, died Sunday, October 11, 2015, at Country Terrace Assisted Living in Altoona. She was born in Eau Claire on December 14, 1920, a daughter of Sever R. and Adella H. (Huse) Severson. Mabel married James O'Neill on March 22, 1942, at Epiphany Lutheran Church in Eau Claire. James passed away in 1995. She was a lifetime member of Epiphany Lutheran Church, Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary, VFW Post 305 Auxiliary, and Flying Eagles Ski Club. Mabel was a devoted mother and caregiver to her family and many others. She very much instilled Christian faith and values to all of her family. Mabel is survived by her four daughters, Judith (Bill) Goblirsch, Sue Meng; Jane O'Neill; Jean (Charlie) Schaefer; one son, James O'Neill; 13 grandchildren, Christine Deering, Lori Dennehy, Kim Fritz, Paul and Aaron Kitchen, Kelley Wright, Stevi York, Jesse O'Neill, Hannah Roen, Isaiah, Micah and Jonah O'Neill, and Norah Fries; 23 great-grandchildren, Natasha, Karah, Krysta, Elliott, Taylor, Jonathan, Dustin, Bethaney, Hayley, Joseph, Caleb, Kieran, Shane, Kaytlyn, Jessika, Jordyn, Carter, Jacob, Caroline, Macy, Hadrian, Elijah and Emma; 19 great-great-grandchildren, Colton, Charlie, Dallas, Kade, Nevaeh, Bella, Ariah, Jamison, Jaxson, Phoenix, Xavior, Abriella, Alora, Lucy, Isabella, Kobe, Adam, Elliott and Klara; brother, Ted (Dawn) Severson; sister, Dianne (Gary) Green; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, James; two granddaughters, Konnie Dobnick and Trisanna Roen; five brothers, Donald, Harold, Rodney, John and Charles; and three sisters, Lois, Caroline and Marion. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, October 19, 2015, at the WEST CHAPEL location of Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home, 1405 N. Clairemont Ave. in Eau Claire with Pastor Frederick C. Sauder officiating. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery in Eau Claire. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Sunday, October 18, 2015, and again one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. The O'Neill family wishes to extend their gratitude to the caring and loving staff at Country Terrace for Mabel's care during her stay.
