Obituary

Mabel Geneva Quinlan, 89, of Eau Claire, died peacefully on Christmas morning, December 25, 2010, at Syverson Lutheran Home. \r\nShe was born on May 23, 1921, in Ridgeland, Wisconsin, a daughter of Hans and Josephine (Olson) Erickson. She graduated from Chippewa Falls High School with the Class of 1938.\r\nMabel married John "Gene" Quinlan on August 23, 1942, in Chippewa Falls. \r\nMabel and Gene lived in Chippewa Falls and Eau Claire, where Mabel worked for Montgomery Wards. They also lived in Cornell, WI where Mabel worked for Northwestern Bank until her retirement in 1984. Mabel and Gene spent their retirement years in Altoona and Eau Claire.\r\nShe was an active member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Cornell and later a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Eau Claire, and it's Trinity Women's Organizations and Quilters. Mabel was a Lay Chaplain and enjoyed visiting residents in local nursing homes and assisted living facilities. She was also a volunteer at the Robbins School library.\r\nMabel enjoyed reading, walking, knitting, sewing, and participating in Bible studies.\r\nMable was a caring and much loved wife, mother, and grandmother.\r\nMabel is survived by her two daughters, Mary (Dennis) Froehlich of Lake Holcombe and Jane (Allen) Brun of Eau Claire; three grandchildren, Kathryn Froehlich of Chicago, IL, Lisa Froehlich (Ben Johnson) of Madison, WI, and Michael Brun of Eau Claire; niece, Christine (Harley) Franz of Chippewa Falls; several cousins and great-nieces and nephews. \r\nShe was preceded in death by her husband, Gene, in 2002; her parents; sisters, LaVina (Roy) Christianson, Virginia (Dick) O'Connell, and Elvira Erickson; nephew, John Hoff; and several cousins. \r\nFuneral Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, December 29, 2010, at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home, 814 First Avenue in Eau Claire with Pastor Debra Boynton officiating. Private Family burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery in Eau Claire. Visitation will be one hour prior to services Wednesday at the Funeral Home.\r\nThe family wishes to thank the staff at Syverson Lutheran Home for their kindness and loving care of Mabel.
