Mabel Thompson, age 92 of Eau Claire, died peacefully on Monday, December 9, 2013, at Milestone Memory Care in Eau Claire. She was born on August 15, 1921, in Canton Township, Buffalo County WI., to Louis and Mary (Raaum) Schlegel. Mabel married Clifford Thompson at Central Lutheran Church in Mondovi, WI, on February 25, 1942. Mable and Clifford lived and worked on the farm before moving to Eau Claire. She worked at National Presto, Actor Drug, Silver Springs, Luther Hospital, and UW Eau Claire. Mabel was a longtime member of Grace Lutheran Church, volunteering her time with many activities. She liked to read, travel, and enjoyed spending time with her siamese cats. Mabel is survived by her husband of almost 72 years, Cliff; sons, Ron (Carole) Thompson, and Rodney (Lorraine) Thompson of Eau Claire; grandchildren, Sara (Josh) Zeug, Eric Thompson, Laura (Alex) Moist, Kirk (Becki) White, Kreg (Kathleen) White, Kori (Sean) Benzine, and Kelly (Heather) White; great-grandchildren, Gunther White, Dakota and Sierra Benzine, Chad and Vincent White, Lucy, Madeline, and Summer Zeug, and Brielle Moist; brother, Jerry (Lori) Schlegel, and sister-in-law, Marge Schlegel. She is preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Mary Lou (Pat) White; sisters, Wilma (George) Pabst and Gladys (Irving) Talle; brothers, Harry, Laverne, Raymond, Wallace, and Louis Schlegel. Funeral Service will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, December 13, 2013, at Grace Lutheran Church, 202 West Grand Ave., Eau Claire, with a visitation one hour prior to the service at church. Pastor Don Wisner will be officiating. Interment will be in Forest Hill Cemetery, Eau Claire. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Eau Claire County Humane Society, 3900 Old Town Hall Road, Eau Claire WI, 54701 or to Grace Lutheran Church, 202 West Grand Avenue, Eau Claire WI, 54703.
