Mable J. Gruhlke, 95, formerly of 2226 14th St., Eau Claire, died Thursday, October 23, 2003 at Dove Healthcare. She was born August 9, 1908 in Buxton, North Dakota the daughter of Tobias and Julia (Swenson) Thompson. Mable married Orville C. Gruhlke on August 7, 1934 in Fairchild, Wisconsin.\r\nShe was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother devoted to raising her family. Mable was a great cook and enjoyed her vast country album collection. Her family will always remember how she enjoyed her favorite pastime of shopping. She was a member of Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd.\r\nShe is survived by two daughters, Bonnie Spencer of Eau Claire and Gayle (Richard) Hanson of Hugo, MN; four sons, Wayne (Judy) Gruhlke of Fall Creek, Randall (Nancy), Reginald (Susan), and Roger (Verna) Gruhlke all of Eau Claire; 14 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; a brother, Nanian (Audrey) Thompson of Eau Claire; two sisters, Ethel (James) Johnson of Eau Claire and Adeline Rauk of San Diego, CA; many nieces and nephews. \r\nMable was preceded in death by her husband Orville in 1983; son-in-law Russell Spencer; five brothers, Clarence, Albert, Willard, Tilman and Rudy Thompson; three sisters, Selma Larson, Anna Thompson and Lilah Nelson; four half- brothers, Henry, Gilbert, Arthur and Tracey Thompson; and four half-sisters, Hilda Thompson, Othelia Aamodt, Magda Rasmussen and Anna Thompson.\r\nFuneral services will be at 1 p.m. Monday, October 27, 2003 at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home with Pastor John E. Hosmann officiating. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call from noon until time of services Monday at the funeral home.
