Obituary

MADLYN F. JOHNSON, 91, died Thursday, August 1, 2002 at the Rutledge Home, Chippewa Falls. She was born on January 11, 1911 to Gus and Grace (Randall) Kaiser in Owen, Wisconsin. She lived in Neillsville and Eau Claire in her earlier years and graduated from high school in Appleton in 1927. Madlyn returned to Eau Claire, where she was employed at Northwestern Credit Bureau as a bookkeeper. She then worked at Northern States Power Co. as a secretary until her retirement in 1958.\r\nIn 1938 she married Allen Spooner in Minneapolis, MN. He died in 1948. Madlyn married Harold L. Johnson on May 30, 1958 in Red Wing, MN.\r\nShe had been a member of Grace Lutheran Church, and was currently a member at Our Savior's Lutheran Church and its Esther Circle.\r\nSurvivors include a son, David (Mary Beth) Spooner of Chippewa Falls; a daughter, Donna (Stan) Thayer of Brighton, CO; three grandsons, Brad (Michelle) Thayer of Littleton, CO, Joe (Kayanna) Spooner and Glen Spooner both of Chippewa Falls; two granddaughters, Tracy (Dean) Miller of Wheat Ridge, CO, and Jill Spooner of Boston, MA; six great grandsons and two great granddaughters. \r\nShe was preceded in death by her husband Harold in 2000 and her parents.\r\nServices will be at 11 a.m. Monday August 5, 2002 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, with Pastor Sherm Iverson officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home and an hour prior to services Monday at the church.\r\nFamily suggests memorials be directed to Our Savior's Lutheran Church.
