Manford "Sandy" O. Olson, 92, of Chippewa Falls died Saturday, June 24, 2006 at the Clairemont Nursing Home in Eau Claire. He was born in Hixton, Wisconsin on June 11, 1914, the son of Henry and Nora (Johnson) Olson. Manford married Hazel Berg in August of 1940, in Iowa. After Hazel's death he married Mary Klemish in Eau Claire on February 1, 1964. \r\nAs a young man he worked as a hired man for different farmers. He then worked at Pope and Talbot paper mill until he operated a gas station and garage in Foster. He later moved to Chippewa Falls where he owned and operated the Hob Nob Tavern. When the city of Chippewa purchased his tavern for the Rushman Drive project he retired.\r\nManford is survived by his wife, Mary; two step sons, LaVern and Edward Klemish; two step daughters, Bonnie (Loren) Dewitz and Marilyn (Theron) Pagel both of Eau Claire; three grandchildren, Troy, Terry and Todd Olson, and four great grandchildren all of Rockford, IL; ten step grandchildren; sister, Helen Charles of Lancaster, PA; and nieces and nephews.\r\nHe was also preceded in death by his parents, two sons, Harvey and infant David Olson; and a stepson, Eugene Kurschner. \r\nFuneral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, June 27, 2006, at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home with Pastor Mary L. Jorgensen officiating. Family and friends may call one hour prior to services Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Lutheran Church Cemetery in Eau Claire.\r\nHis family extends a special thanks to the staff at the Clairemont Nursing, and his friend and neighbor Harvey Fouts of Chippewa Falls.\r\n \r\n
