Marcella Marlene Kilde, 83, of Eau Claire died Tuesday, June 19, 2007, at Dove Healthcare and Rehabilitation in Eau Claire. She was born in Iron Mountain, Michigan on March 22, 1924, the daughter of Elmer LeMaire and Anna Marie Rokke.\r\nAt an early age she and her parents moved to Chicago, Illinois. Marcella graduated from Juan High School in Chicago. She continued her education with voice and piano lessons at the Conservatory of Music in Chicago.\r\nMarcella married Rev. Paul R. Kilde on September 15, 1945, at Augustana Lutheran Church in Chicago.\r\nThey lived in many places as he was a Chaplin serving in the U.S. Air force. Some of the locations (including with their children) were the Philippines, Louisiana, Mississippi, Florida, Spain, Oklahoma, New Hampshire, and England.\r\nSome of Marcella's hobbies were gardening, (she was known for having a 'green thumb'), writing letters, journal writing, sculpting, drawing and family history/genealogy. She enjoyed traveling and had been to Norway several times with her family to visit relatives. Marcella and Paul also took trips to Germany, France, Scotland, Texas, and Arizona.\r\nMarcella served as a Red Cross volunteer, and as an Air Force Hospital volunteer for their pediatric ward. She was a choir director for many years directing children and adult choirs. She also sang at weddings, funerals, and solos at church services.\r\nOne of her husband's memorable moments was singing with her in the Messiah. Other wonderful family memories with her included walking on the beach in Florida, collecting shells, singing in the car, fishing at Chetek, and sitting at the kitchen table eating the delicious tapioca pudding that she made in a yellow bowl.\r\nMarcella is survived by her husband, Rev. Paul Kilde Sr.; son, Paul R. (Jeanne) Kilde of St. Paul, MN; three daughters, Barbara (Guy) Carlier of Brittany, France, Elizabeth (Steve Janega) Kilde of Mpls., MN and Janice Kilde of Eau Claire; four grandchildren, Mark Carlier, Laura (Mathieu) Carlier, Cherolyn (Emiliano Silva) Fischer and Bethany Ida; a great-granddaughter, Namshaya Silva Fischer; her sister, Rosalie Vohn; and several nieces and nephews. \r\nShe was preceded in death by her parents.\r\nMemorial Services will be at 2 p.m. on Friday, June 22, 2007, at First Lutheran Church, Eau Claire with the Rev. Dr. Duane C. Pederson officiating. Burial will be in Lutheran Church Cemetery, Eau Claire.
