Marcus J. Chmel, 45, of Brandon, Florida, and formerly of Eau Claire, died Monday, October 27, 2008, at his home. He was born in Eau Claire on April 26, 1963, the son of James and Dorothy (Meyer) Chmel.\r\nMarcus graduated from Memorial High School with the class of 1981. He graduated from UW-Eau Claire in 1987.\r\nMarcus moved to Florida in 1996 where he worked ten years as a Technical Representative for Verizon, and later was an Insurance Sales Representative.\r\nHe grew up boating on the Mississippi River, and throughout his life enjoyed being on the water, and loved going on cruises with his friends. Marcus was fond of his dogs, and they gave him much enjoyment.\r\nMarcus is survived by his parents, James and Dorothy of Eau Claire; his sister, Renee (Robert) Chambers of Ramsey, NJ; niece and nephew, Kelly and Sean Chambers; his grandmother, Beatrice Meyer of Amery; two uncles, Robert (Elaine) Meyer of Amery and Richard (Caroline) Meyer of Germantown; his aunt, Elaine (Kenneth) Lizotte of Fayetteville, GA; and cousins.\r\nHe was preceded in death by his grandparents; Elvyn and Margareth Chmel, and Rudolph Meyer.\r\nFuneral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, November 2, 2008, at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home, 814 First Ave., Eau Claire, with the Rev. Rolf A. Nestingen officiating. Burial will be at Forest Hill Cemetery in Eau Claire.
