Margaret E. Backus, 90, of Eau Claire, died Friday, May 9, 2003 at Dove Healthcare Nursing and Rehabilitation. She was born on October 11, 1912 in Dover, Minnesota the daughter of Ray and Jenny (Martinson) Persons. Margaret married Raymond F. Backus on July 2, 1931 in Menomonie.\r\nSurvivors include her two sons, Dale (Pat) of Chippewa Falls and Jim (Donna) of Eau Claire; three grandchildren, Mike (Donna) Backus of Eleva, Scott (Linda) Backus of Mt. Prospect, IL, and Heidi (Jeff) Reynolds of Tacoma, WA; four great-grandchildren, Christopher, Elizabeth, Patrick and Andrew; brother, Jim (Audrey) Persons of Eau Claire; sister, Lois (Bob) Rossow of Minneapolis; and many nieces and nephews.\r\nShe was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Raymond in 1985; three brothers, Don, Harley and George Persons and two sisters, Betty and Noni Persons.\r\n Margy was a loving mother and grandmother; she will be greatly missed.\r\nFuneral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 13, 2003 at Plymouth Congregational United Church of Christ with Pastor Chris W. Myers officiating. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home, and an hour prior to services Tuesday at the church.\r\nFamily requests memorials be directed to Boy Scouts of America Chippewa Valley Council, 710 Hastings Way, Eau Claire, WI 54701.
