Margaret L. Broten, 91, of Eau Claire, died Saturday, April 7, 2007 at Syverson Lutheran Home in Eau Claire.\r\nMargaret was born September 22, 1915 in the town of Naples, Buffalo County, Wis. to Louis and Amelia (Rasmus) Nogle. She lived a few years in the city of Mondovi before moving to Eau Claire with her parents in 1920. She attended Eau Claire High Schools.\r\nFollowing graduation, Margaret enrolled in a one-year Commercial course at Chippewa Valley Technical College. Later she earned a Bachelor of Science Degree at Eau Claire Teachers College. Following graduation she accepted a teaching position in Prairie Farm, Wis. She continued teaching for a few years until she married Palmer Lloyd Broten on December 14, 1939 in Minneapolis, Minn.\r\nMargaret was an active member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church most of her life, where she was active in choir, Esther Circle and the quilting group. In addition she also was both a Sunday School and nursery school teacher at her church.\r\nSurvivors include her son, Darryl L. (Kathleen) Broten of Eau Claire; a brother, Robert L. Nogle of Plainfield, Wis; two grandchildren, Michelle (Brett) Olson of Eau Claire and Kirk Broten of San Diego, Calf.; two great grandchildren, Matthew Standish Olson and Mikayla Charlene Olson, both of Eau Claire; a sister-in-law, Addie Ostrom of Barron, Wis.; a brother-in-law, Eugene Peterson of Menomonie; and by many nieces and nephews.\r\nShe was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Palmer in 1977; two brothers, Marshall L Nogle of Eau Claire and Adrian M. Nogle of West Allis, Wis.; and a sister, Joyce Peterson of Menomonie, Wis.\r\nMargaret's family would like to thank the Syverson Lutheran Home staff for all of the wonderful kindness and care shown to her.\r\nFuneral services will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, April 11, 2007 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Eau Claire, with Pastor Gary F. Sahs officiating. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery, Eau Claire. Friends and relatives may call one hour prior to the service Wednesday at Church.
