Obituary

Margaret Adline Gunderson, 89, of Eau Claire passed away Friday July 13, 2007, at the Syverson Lutheran Home. She was born October 13, 1917, to Edward and Hilda (Issacson) Gunderson in Eau Claire. She received her undergraduate degree in primary education from Superior Teacher's college and a master's degree in reading from UW-Eau Claire.\r\nMargaret taught school in Stockholm, Hayward, Sheboygan and Rhinelander. In 1950 she moved to Hammond, Indiana, where she taught until her retirement in 1983. She returned to Eau Claire and for years had a small shop, the Nostalgia Nook, in the Antique Emporium. She also volunteered at Luther Hospital's Red Carpet.\r\nMargaret was a long time member of Grace Lutheran Church. She was also a member of the Wisconsin and Indiana Retired Teacher Associations. She was a supporter of the arts, with a special interest in the Art Institute of Chicago. Margaret had a fascination of nature, particularly with birds, and enjoyed her collection of bird sculptures.\r\nMargaret is survived by two nephews; Eugene (Theresa) Hutchins of DeBary, Florida and John Hutchins of Bayside, New York; a niece, Charlotte Peters-Sullivan of Flushing New York; two great nephews, Chris and Ryan Peters; and several cousins.\r\nShe was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Lucille Hutchins in 1992 and Charlotte Johnson in 2002; two brothers-in-law, LeRoy Johnson and Paul Hutchins; and a great-nephew Michael Hutchins.\r\nA service of celebration will be at 11 a.m. Friday, July 20, 2007, at Grace Lutheran Church Chapel in Eau Claire, with Pastor David J. Irgens and Pastor Debra Boynton officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery. Friends may call one hour prior to services Friday at the church. Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral and Cremation Services is serving her family.\r\nFamily requests memorials be directed to Grace Lutheran Church, 202 W.
